Exclusive Standards
Hansen & Horn is known for innovation in design — designs that perfectly blend form and function. Our talented team of in-house designers study the way people live, evaluating needs, trends and functionality. Our homes are built with intelligent design, to be as livable as they are beautiful. Instead of working with cookie-cutter, box-type rooms, we divide our homes into activity zones, relating more to how people actually live.
To these unique designs, we bring exclusive standards that make our homes more functional, more durable and more beautiful. In every Hansen & Horn home, we include these exclusive standards:
The extras — big and small — that Hansen & Horn includes with each home not only make a great impression, but also make a great home to be enjoyed for years to come.
Dimensional Roof Shingles
Our Dimensional Roof Shingles system provides roof deck protection, critical leak barriers for the most vulnerable areas of your roof, effective ventilation to protect against roof deterioration, and enhanced aesthetics. Dimensional roof shingles are thicker than normal roofing material. They overlap to provide maximum protection and, at the same time, add dimension and depth to the roofline. With a Class A rating from UL, dimensional roof shingles are a safer and smarter choice.

Dow Weathermate® Housewrap
Every Hansen & Horn home is covered with Dow Weathermate Housewrap, a tear-resistant Styrofoam wrap that protects your new home by providing four key benefits:
- Air Resistance: reduces drafts and energy loss and increases comfort.
- Water Resistance: minimizes water intrusion, keeping wood sheathings drier.
- Moisture Vapor Permeability: allows moisture to escape from inside the home, reducing condensation.
- Durability: Withstands the elements during construction and provides ongoing protection.
Dow Weathermate Housewrap outperforms other perforated, woven housewraps and surrounds your home — during and after construction — with long-term protection.

Enhanced Georgian™ Trim
All our homes are graced with enhanced Georgian Trim to present a rich, luxurious appeal. We use 4 ½” trim and 2 ¾” door casings, which exceeds code requirements — both in width and depth — to add quality, beauty and charm to every room. Enhanced Georgian Trim is just one more Hansen & Horn exclusive standard, reminiscent of times gone by, when homes bore the signs of quality craftsmanship, down to the smallest detail.

More Windows - Larger Windows
One of the things that makes Hansen & Horn homes distinctive is our use of windows to bring the beauty of nature indoors. Our home plans feature more and oversized windows that let in more natural light and extend views from the inside out. All of our windows exceed code requirements for egress. In addition, every window — even windows in the back and on the sides of the home — have decorative window grids that are tailored to match the style of the home’s architecture. Hansen & Horn homes have more windows, larger windows and more beautiful windows to bring light and life to every room.

Wider, Full-size Stairways
Most Hansen & Horn home plans feature wider, full-size stairways that add a graceful elegance to the home. Our stairs have a smaller rise — only 7 ½” — and wider treads — 11” — which means the staircase is not as steep and promotes more secure footing. We’ve also made the whole stairway wider for easy navigability. All in all, that gives us a step up on our competition.

Full-size Interior Doorways
Adequate is never good enough at Hansen & Horn. Far exceeding code, every doorway in our homes is wider than required by law. Wider doors mean easier access and easier navigation. Wider doors also require wider hallways, which adds comfort and an expansive feeling. In our homes, hallways are not long, narrow passageways that are hard to negotiate and impossible to move furniture in. They are wide, open, graceful places that complement the rest of the home’s beauty.

Silent Floor® Joist System
The Silent Floor System we utilize is structurally engineered to add strength, comfort and quality throughout every home. Each component is precision-engineered to give your home remarkable strength and integrity. A floor system made from ordinary lumber leaves too much to chance. Sawn lumber, with its defects and imperfections, can cause problems like squeaky, uneven and vibrating floors. With the Silent Floor joist system, all joists have the same depth and dimensional stability. That means, years from now, your home will be as solid and sound as the day you move in.

Solid Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Sheathing
Between the home’s interior wallboard and the Dow Weathermate® Housewrap, all our homes are surrounded with Solid Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Sheathing. OSB sheathing is structural wood paneling that adds strength and protection to your home’s exterior. OSB also absorbs sound and, when used in conjunction with insulation products, provides an effective noise barrier. OSB sheathing is consistent, which — though you can’t see it when your home is done — presents a solid nail base for the finished siding.
