Is mold covered under the Porch-to-Porch Promise?

Yes. Mold is ever-present in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoor mold growth is often the result of moisture intrusion, but can also be encouraged by plants, pets, people, humidity, condensation and moisture from kitchens and bathrooms. The warranty does not cover mold growth caused by these natural sources. However, if mold damage is caused by a construction defect covered by your Porch-to-Porch Promise Warranty (specificaly, water intrusion from roof, plumbing or mechanical system leaks) during the first four years, remediation and repair of the damaged area will be covered.

Most insurance companies have excluded or reduced their coverage for mold damage in a home. In addition, most new home warranties consider mold a "consequential damage" and do not cover the cost to remediate mold damage in a home. At Hansen & Horn, our warranty is different.

The 100-Point Promise Inspection

90 days after you close, your new home will receive its first 100-Point Promise Inspection. This inspection is a thorough, diagnostic check up on your home's key elements. Inspections will continue every nine months throughout the 4-year duration of the warranty. During your home's 100-Point Promise Inspections, we'll also change furnace filters and replace smoke alarm batteries as needed.
