It is our goal to make the building process as easy and pleasant for you as possible. To help you along, we've included a list of some common building terms as well as Hansen & Horn exclusives, and their definitions, below.


  • Closing Coordinator
    The person responsible for assembling all contract paperwork prior to closing on a mortgage.
  • Craftsman Style
    A rustic, informal design style featuring such elements as split wood shingles, shake siding, brick, stone, slate, stucco and clapboard. Available in all Heritage Collection models.
  • Customer Service Manager (CSM)
    The CSM conducts quality inspections, homeowner orientations and oversees warranty service.
  • Design Consultant
    The person who assists in design choices for a home's interior and exterior and facilitates changes and special orders.
  • DesignFlex™
    Hansen & Horn's exclusive concept that lets you decide the best use of space in your new home by allowing you to restructure interior spaces. Up to 15 different Flex-Space designs are available depending on the floor plan you choose.
  • Design Center
    Hansen & Horn's unique destination where you can work with our Design Consultants to choose the many design options available on your new home.
  • Estate Collection
    Hansen & Horn's collection of homes offering classic style and a great value per square foot.
  • European Country Style
    A design style that reflects Old World elegance and casual comfort, with such features as simple shutters, arched openings, interesting rooflines and stucco finishes. Available in all Heritage Collection models.
  • Final Phase Community
    A community in which almost all of the lots have been sold.
  • Heritage Collection
    Hansen & Horn's line of homes that features three unique styles-Traditional, European Country and Craftsman-as well as multiple floor plans and customizable options.
  • Legends Collection
    The Hansen & Horn collection of homes characterized by enhanced standard features and more customizable options similar to building a custom home.
  • Lender
    The company responsible for facilitating the loan process.
  • Personal Builder
    Hansen & Horn provides a Personal Builder who communicates with the homebuyer throughout the building process.  The Personal Builder coordinates trade contractors, coordinates changes and schedules home reviews.
  • Porch-to-Porch Promise
    A comprehensive four-year warranty covering all workmanship and material. It includes our 100-Point Promise Inspection, performed 90-days after closing and every 9 months for the next four years. It’s the best home warranty in America.
  • Project Manager
    The Project Manager oversees the building process onsite.
  • Sales Consultant
    The sales professional who assists you in the home-buying process.
  • Sales Manager
    The person who oversees all sales consultants and the sales process.
  • Stick-built Home
    A home that is "stick-built" is constructed on the building site as opposed to being manufactured in a factory and transported to the building site.
  • Title Company
    The company that provides financial details pertinent to the closing on a mortgage.
  • Traditional Style
    A timeless design style characterized by classic design elements such as expansive windows, columns, pilasters, corner boards and shutters. Available in all Heritage Collection models.
  • Daylight Vista™ Basement
    Hansen & Horn's unique basement with full-size windows, offering additional highly livable square footage.
  • Warranty Office
    Works with the Sales Consultant and Personal Builder throughout the construction process and oversees warranty requests from the homeowner.
