Building Your Home

Once you have gone through the Design Center process, made all your selections and secured financing, we're ready to start the construction process. There are three main stages in construction and three opportunities for you to inspect the work in progress.

Pre-drywall Framing Inspection
After the rough mechanical stage, before the insulation is installed, you have the opportunity to tour your home. The rooms have begun to take shape, but the inner workings are still visible, and you can see the quality that goes inside the walls of your home.

Pre-carpet Preview
The Pre-carpet Preview is scheduled after the drywall, painting and interior trim phases are complete to make sure that all of your interior options and choices are correct prior to installation of carpet. This inspection allows you to see the finished quality of your home as it nears completion.

Orientation Inspection
We pay strict attention to detail, and we want you to, also. The Homeowner Orientation is your chance to thoroughly check your home before closing. It serves as an introduction to your home and its many features. During this orientation, we review key points about maintenance and explain the Limited Warranty coverage. We also confirm that we have installed all of your selections and options properly.

Construction Sequence
Although the specific sequence of construction steps varies and overlaps, generally we build your home in the following order:

1. Foundation

2. Framing

3. Roofing

4. Exterior
  • Exterior trim
  • Exterior painting or staining
  • Concrete or asphalt
  • Finish grading
